Dad's Recovery

Once again I apologize for the lack of blogging lately. Life has been busy around here. I want to thank everybody for their continued thoughts and prayers for my dad and our family. I can't tell you how much we all appreciate it.

Here is the update on dad. He got out of rehabilitation last Saturday and came to live with us. He suffered a slight stroke and also was diagnosed with diabetis and high blood pressure...all of which are contributing to the fact that he is still seeing double. Initially he was wearing a patch over one eye but is no longer doing that. He is happy as he always is and we are enjoying having him in our home. The kids just adore him. We are hoping that his vision will improve and that he will be able to drive once again because that is sooo important to him. Here are some pictures of our life with grandpa.

One of the things we do on valentine's day is a chocolate scavenger hunt...here he is helping Quinn along...
He is learning alot about technology while he is staying with us...

Ellie has taken over the role of dad's nurse. He is taking his blood-sugar numbers several times a day as well as his blood pressure...let's just say that she jumped right in and took over this whole process.
recording his numbers...

going with him on walks...

getting his blood - sugar numbers...

Last week the weather was incredible here...we got up to 50 degrees which was wonderful...we spent a lot of time outside. Today is a different story....we are in the middle of a blizzard.
Again, thank you for all of the love and support. Dad has loved getting the cards in the mail and all of the phone calls. We are all so blessed.

I apologize for not blogging for a long time. We've had a difficult week. My dad has been in the hospital after suffering a stroke and I've been spending a lot of time with him. His recent scare was another reminder of how precious and fragile life is. We are hopeful that he will be released soon and we thank God for the medical staff that is helping him get better.

Katie Pertiet of Designer Digitals came up with the idea of documenting a decade. She created a series of templates that allow this project to be a snap. It has been so fun reliving these special moments and looking at the changes that occur from year to year. Here is a peek into my first four years of the last decade...six more to go!

Art Journaling

Last year my dear friend Aino from Israel started an Art Journal Challenge at Designer Digitals. She is an amazing digital artist and her work has always been so inspiring to me. I had the privilege of spending quite a bit of time with her on the team trip a few weeks ago and she is just such a special person. I have loved the Art Journal Challenge becuase it has allowed me to create pieces that are way outside my normal "box". It is a way to express yourself... it is a way to try something different... it is a way to not have any "rules" and just play. I need that in my life because sometimes, I get too caught up in what I need to get documented and her challenge is the push I need to go somewhere I would have never gone before...to just play.

Her challenge this week was to use Leonardo di Vinci's work as your inspiration. Here is the image that I created. This image contains the very first photo of my daughter Amelia and a photo that I took of her this week at the age of five. The changes have blown me away. Time is just moving way too quickly.
